Many amazing places to see on Eleuthera

Our island has many interesting places to experience. The glass window bridge is a wonder to behold. So calm on one side but the other side can be a powerful force of destruction when the rage is on!!

Heres what past guests think about Suncrest House. The space has since been separated into two spaces.

We returned to the Northeast a week ago after a truly relaxing 7 days in the Bahamas, based in Governors Harbour at 'Theresa's Place' (it is on the map as such!). During our stay we ventured well south on the island of Eleuthera, and north to both Spanish Wells and Harbour Island which are reached by short water taxi rides and so worth it. Governors Harbour is a very pretty and historical small town and Suncrest House is located on the tip of the scorpion tail (known as Cupid's Cay) that forms the harbour. We had water views on three sides and unobstructed magnificent sunsets. The location may not be as upscale as many on Harbour Island but the natural unpretentious charm very quickly grew on us and all necessities were just minutes away, including some of the most beautiful and virtually private beaches you will find anywhere. The general store is a time warp in itself stocking anything you could ever think of needing. Local restaurants such as The Buccaneer Club and Tippy's are a short drive from 'home.' The latter is located right above the beach and both atmosphere and the food are great. '1648' is also very good for a more sophisticated change and Da Perk is excellent for breakfast; go for the raspberry and white chocolate scones!!! The house is cute, well equipped and very clean and suited us perfectly. Right next door the owner of Suncrest has a small cafe and a tiny gift shop that is stuffed with an amazing selection of quality 'souvenirs.' The jewel in the crown of our experience was in fact Theresa herself. She knows everyone, her advice was invaluable, and we so enjoyed just shooting the breeze with her. Theresa epitomizes all that is so wonderful about the Bahamas, cheerful, friendly and down to earth. Long may our more than 40 years love affair with this Island nation continue.

We were able to see the north and the south without a long drive to get back home. The harbor has great restaurants and plenty of things to do. The fish fry is a must. Very clean, and the kitchen was well stocked for preparing meals.

My Response

Awesome young folk-great attitude-very clean-welcome back anytime😊

The house itself is clean and comfortable and updated. It is a great central location for short trips to the beach or nearby towns, and day trips further north or south. We felt very safe, and Theresa was very friendly and available.

This villa is located right on the end of the point in Governor's Harbour. It's clean, well built, and with great views of the ocean on three sides. The bathroom is a bit tight, but the shower is good and roomy. The downstairs is plenty big enough for two people, and I love the upstairs bedroom. The owners are local Bahamians, both very friendly and helpful. They own the small café next door, and live about ten minutes away. The villa is located right next to the port, so if a ship comes in you get to see it unload. We didn't rent a car, so we walked everywhere, including to French Leave beach on the other side of the island. The town is quaint, the locals very friendly and helpful, and there are good grocery stores and restaurants. A wonderful, affordable accommodation, and I wouldn't hesitate to return another time.

This wonderful island is picturesque . Theresa and her family have done everything to make us comfy on our Honeymoon. The location of the Villa is perfect. It's less than 15 minutes from the airport. It is also situated halfway from both sides of the Island. Pricing is great. Internet. I would stay here again in a heartbeat .

Me and my husband stayed a few days at Theresa's house and it was great! The location is perfect, especially if you want to visit the entire isle. It is close either to the north part either to the south. Minutes away from the beautiful beach French Leave where you can find nice restaurants and bars (1648 Bar & Grille, Tippy's Restaurant, Bar & Beach, Sky Beach, etc). Not far away from The Cove, witch you should definitely visit! You should rent a car, the Island is quite long. Theresa can help you with that. The house is very clean and beautiful, actually quite romantic :) ! Convenience store very close, full equipped kitchen, very good internet connection! Theresa is a very nice person!! I definitely recommend! We loved it!!!

Our family traveled to the Bahamas for the first time in February 2016 and stayed the entire week in Theresa’s wonderful Cozy Seafront Villa in Eleuthera. We couldn’t have been more pleased and fulfilled with our experience. First off, the Bahamians are simply some of the most wonderful, warm, genuine people we’ve ever met, and our family has done lots of world travel. The locals are such a peaceful, content people, and nearly everyone we encountered genuinely welcomed us to their island paradise. Theresa and her family were no exception. She was the perfect host, offering to fill any needs we had. She connected us with Roderick, from whom we rented a convenient and very reliable car and who dropped off the car for us at the Villa. Theresa kindly picked us up at the airport in Governor’s Harbour, giving us a narrated tour along the way to the Villa, pointing out historical sites. The Villa’s location at the end of Cupid’s Cay was wonderful, with views of the exquisite surrounding seas on three sides. You’ll find pristine, crystal clear blue waters and sandy beaches within easy walking distance. A few minutes’ walk down the road is a convenience store and a bit further, site of Friday’s fun “Fish Fry”, which we enjoyed our last evening, meeting lots of people and dancing in the streets! The house is spacious and comfortable, well equipped with everything one needs, even stocked with a sample of Theresa’s daughter’s very own special Eleutheran spices. If you want to relax and unwind, Eleuthera is your island paradise; Theresa and Cozy Seafront Villa will not disappoint! Robin, Scott & Maya

This sparkling new rental was spectacular by every measure. The house was very clean and very comfortable. From the new queen size bed situated in the master suite with a view of the ocean and stunning sunsets; to the convenience of a washer & dryer, new appliances and the flat screen TV, it had all the comforts of home.   The owner and her family were warm, wonderful, and well connnected locals that made us feel like family and left us wanting for nothing during our stay.  Cupid's Cay has a little commercial clutter, but puts you in the heart of Eleutheran culture, surrounded by real food, real people, caribbean coves and white sand beaches, all within walking distance of your beautiful villa.  Rely on the owners to arrange a rental car only because the other 20 beaches, 20 minutes in any direction; where we never saw another person; are too spectacular for words. Hike, explore the caves, snorkle, swim, relax on miles of deserted beaches!  Getting here by plane from Boston was incredibly easy, Fly right in to Nassau and then fast ferry, or commuter plane in to Governors Harbor. We left Boston at 7:40 am and were walking on the beach just after noon.  For your sake we hope you see Eleuthera. For the sake of this beautiful place and the people who live here, we hope we can close the door behind us when we visit again. This gem should be enjoyed and protected. We'll be back!  Bill and Annette - Portland Maine

We had a fantastic time staying in this villa- it had everything you would want in a home: views, laundry room, two bathrooms and beautiful decor. The owner and her daughter treated us like we were family.   We took a rental car all over the island and it was so nice to come back "home" at the end of the day. We have three little children and they loved it too.   You really get a taste of the island people and experience Govenor's Harbour staying here.  Again, we had a fantastic, amazing and wonderful time!!! We can't wait to come back.
